Why Vinci is my Poor Little Meow Meow
Just because @ragnarokascendant called me out I’m making this.
Okay so Vinci from Butcher Bird is my poor little meow meow. Look at Him!!!!
Yes, yes, we all know he’s committed unspeakable crimes against humanity. Some of my favourites include:
- Rewrite his own DNA to suit his personal needs
- Created a volcano because it was the easiest way to finish the fight
- Created entirely new species (plural) of humans because he thought it would be cool
- On all levels but physical, spit in the Elder Star’s face
- Orchestrated the death of 10,000 people because he thought it’d be a neat distraction
- Made physics his bitch
So, yes, he’s a little bastard. But he’s my little bastard and I consider all of these crimes a plus. Y'all are just cowards.
Moving on, Vinci is my poor little war criminal. This is because of his determination to never give up on his goals, and the unconventional ways he gets around obstacles in his way. He sees a problem and vivisects it until he knows exactly how it ticks. And then he disintegrates it. He does not take no for an answer and he is a force of nature contained in the body of a maliciously assembled scarecrow. He takes the hits but doesn’t roll with them, no. He hits back, and harder.
He got a wake-up call early on and you know what? He answered it. Then hung up the phone and went far above and beyond what he was called to. But it’s served him well.
He created a volcano because he was basically fighting a rock with a knife and you know what? There was a convenient supply of lava right below them. Might as well.
He saw an opportunity to beef up the rest of his crew and you know what? He took it, and it’s made them some of the scariest mofos in Paradise. It’s kept them alive.
The World Government wanted his best friend. Instead of playing it cool and hightailing it out later, you know what he did? Spat in their face and smiled. That’s the kind of loyalty people have fought and died for. And instead of fighting a losing battle, he created a… ‘distraction’ and didn’t feel an ounce of regret. Like I said, a bastard. But my little bastard.
He can conjure lightning and swallow tsunamis. He can tell the universe to move and it will. His will becomes reality and all he needed to do was to become the catalyst of entropy.
But even through all this, he’s still weighed down by guilt. He’s lost so many of his original crew that it keeps him up at night. He regrets having to lose so many at Emory and I know for a fact he sees Jack’s ghost even now. Vinci has had to go back on many of his principles, he’s had to break promises to himself. Who knows how his parents would look at him now.
He’s not a good man, he’s not a strong man. And that’s why he’s my little meow meow.
Grigori Vinci is a right bastard but damn if he isn’t inspiring in the reasons for his actions. He watches over his own and doesn’t take no for an answer and that is why he is my motivation to be better.
I’ve attached memes below to illustrate some of my points on why he’s my beloved war criminal. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
